What is an SEO Writer?

All website writing is not alike. The primary objective of your website content is to present your business in such a way that it invites potential customers to contact you and buy your products or services. Your content should also help your business get found by search engines. Even the most beautifully designed, well-written website won’t draw more clients unless it also attracts search engines.

An SEO writer can help. She or he will start by researching the keyword phrases your customers are most likely use to search for your services or products on the Internet. There are a variety of tools available, including Google’s own Keyword Research Tool. Your SEO writer will analyze the best keywords for your market, target a few relevant keyword phrases for each website page, and incorporate those phrases into your website’s meta-tags and content. This process is part art, part science – your writer needs to understand your business goals, objectives and customers to select the most beneficial keyword phrases.

Organic SEO Is Effective

This type of SEO is often called “on-page SEO” or “organic SEO.” It is quite effective at helping your business draw search engines, particularly in niche and local markets. For example, if I am looking for a chiropractor and I live in San Rafael, I might type into a search engine “chiropractor San Rafael.”  Or, if I need to get my car washed, and I am driving through the town of Sonoma, I might type into my iPhone “car wash in Sonoma.”  If your website content was written with organic SEO in mind, it will probably be presented to me as one of the first business listings I see.

Here’s What to Ask Your SEO Writer

Before you hire a website writer, always ask if the writer is an SEO writer. Ask for examples of their work where their SEO efforts have been successful. Then, help your writer by thinking about niche markets for your products and services and possible keyword phrases that will reach your target audience.

With properly written SEO content, your website will not only be a pleasure to read, it will also be found by search engines, which will help your business grow.
